Sahih Muslim Book 3, Hadith Number 615.

Chapter : The characteristic of the male reproductive substance(sperm) and female reproductive substance (ovum),and that the offspring is produced by the contribution of both.

This tradition has been narrated by Mu’awyia b. Salim with the same chain of transmitters except for the words: I was sitting beside the Messenger of Allah” and some other minor alterations.
