Abu Dawud Book 9, Hadith Number 2784.
Chapter : Sacrifice on behalf of a deceased person.
Narated By Ali ibn Abu Talib : Hanash said: I saw Ali sacrificing two rams; so I asked him: What is this? He replied. The Apostle of Allah (PBUH) enjoined upon me to sacrifice on his behalf, so that is what I am doing.
